Bodywork

Bodywork

At Dominican Center, bodywork is available as one path that can lead to learning more about one's inner life while addressing the physical tensions or symptoms that are present in the body. Within a safe, credible, and contemplative environment, persons can tap into their "body wisdom" through Relaxation Massage, Healing Touch, LaStone Therapy, Ear Candling, Raindrop Technique, CranioSacral Therapy, Non-Needle Acupuncture, Shiatsu Therapy, Medical Massage, Alexander Technique, and Prenatal Massage.

A session may engage the individual in dialogue, the use of imagery or metaphor, breathwork, or affirmations before, during, or after the actual bodywork. The practitioner's role, while one of administering touch, is also to facilitate the transition of awareness from noticing what is being felt in the body to paying attention to what is calling from the heart.

Bodywork Services are open 7 days a week with some practitioners available on Saturdays and Sundays.  Please contact the Front Desk for weekend availability.  616-454-1241.

Welcome to the Dominican Center's Bodywork Ministry!

We believe that Dominican Center is unique in offering an integrated approach to bodywork that values and honors the whole person. Having been trained through the Spiritual Companioning Program here at Dominican Center, we pay attention to the physical, psychological, social and spiritual as we meet each individual with an open and compassionate heart wherever they are on their life's journey. Our hands are God's hands in the world and we believe that when the body is calm and relaxed, and the mind is quieted, God can work in and through one's life more fully. Over time and with regular practice, bodywork may facilitate the process of healing, growth, and transformation as one reflects about one's body and one's relationship with God. We hope you will return for regular appointments with us and use our Referral Cards to invite your friends and family to Dominican Center. Blessings! - Bodywork Staff

Bodywork as a spiritual practice:

We are all interested in growing in depth and living lives that are congruent with our spiritual nature. Regular Bodywork can support our ongoing spiritual formation and other religious practices that are already foundational to our journey. It can also be an entry point or first step for someone who desires to become more integrated through adopting bodywork as a spiritual practice.
