The mission of the Grand Rapids Area Health Ministry Consortium is to: Educate congregations, clergy, health professionals and the community about health ministry Support congregations as they begin health ministries Support health ministers Coordinate resources for health ministers
Our Vision
The vision of the Grand Rapids Area Health Ministry Consortium is to create opportunities for the health of the mind, body, and spirit, and for wholeness within every congregation in the Grand Rapids area.
Who We Are
The Grand Rapids Area Health Ministry Consortium started as a task force with a primary goal of developing a collaborative support network for health ministries and parish nursing, promoting health care within the faith community using a wholistic model. Today the Grand Rapids Area Health Ministry Consortium is represented by a diverse group of faith and health organizations and is currently operating as a program under the Dominican Center while pursuing funding and independent status as a 501C3 nonprofit organization.
What We Do
The Grand Rapids Area Health Ministry Consortium provides:
- A network and resources for health ministry and parish nurse programs
- Educational opportunities for health ministries and parish nurses
- Tools to assist and support health ministries within congregations
- Assistance in identifying the type of health ministry that best fits your faith community
- Support services for the development of health cabinets
- Support for parish nurses, Stephen ministries, and pastoral care providers
How You Can Help
Health ministries based in faith communities bridge gaps in care and provide a means of access to care for those who are underinsured or underserved including children, youth, the elderly, the disabled and families in need. Your support of the Grand Rapids Area Health Ministry Consortium can be made in a number of meaningful ways:

- Implementing health ministries within your own congregation
- Providing health programs and services to area faith communities
